I had a heart scan at the end of June. I finally received communication from the consultant in the form of a letter in the middle of August approximately 7 weeks after the test. It stated briefly that the heart scan was fine but the sonographer had noted a probable cyst on my liver and I would receive an appointment for an abdominal ultrasound. The scan took place the middle of September and I was told the results would be with the consultant in around 2 weeks. Today almost 4 weeks after the test I contacted their secretary to be told that they had written to my GP but not included me in the letter so I needed to contact my GP.
As you can imagine at the moment given the pressure GP surgeries are under this is not an easy task. I finally spoke to a receptionist who informed me that they have not yet received the letter but if the doctor needed to discuss it with me they would be in touch.
My complaint in all of this is that at no point has anyone actually spoken to me, the patient, at any point, about the implications of this cyst if that's what it is. At best I may get to speak to the GP if they deem it necessary.
Having had cancer 3 years ago which is now thankfully in remission I still experience high levels of anxiety around my health and this has left me feeling very vulnerable.
