"treated with care and compassion"

About: Borders General Hospital Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I went into labour, I am a first time mum and from the first phone call to the unit I felt supported. I went in and was treated with care and compassion from all staff to deliver my baby. In particular I would like to thank Libby, Emma and Melissa who all supported me through contractions, pain relief and then my c section. They then continued to support me on the ward and went above and beyond helping with feeding, changing and personal care for myself while also including my partner. Our baby is thriving at home thanks to them.

Dear Joannes

Thank you for providing lovely feedback. I am pleased that you felt the staff caring for you provided you with care and compassion, especially when it may have not gone the way you had anticpated.

We aim to provide person centred care and the staff have demonstrated this within the care they provided.

I will ensure the staff are informed of your lovely feedback and I am pleased you also felt supported with your feeding and your baby has settled in well at home. I hope you can continue to enjoy the coming months with your new baby.

Kind Regards

Kirsteen Guthrie
