I arrived at A&E with what I thought was a very sore shoulder and, courtesy of my wife, a query about a possible heart event. It turned out that I had a serious virus in my blood and spent seventeen days in hospital being examined and treated by 4 different specialities as no one could initially identify the source of the infection. I was on heavy antibiotics all that time and when I left hospital I had to attend Richhill Health Centre every day for twenty-eight days to receive a course of antibiotics by IV.
Over the almost seven weeks I found that the medical staff, doctors and nurses alike, and the catering staff and the cleaners, caring and considerate and they all went out of their way to make my experience as pleasant and as comfortable as possible. Also, with my permission, they regularly phoned my wife to give her an update on my condition and treatment, and to deal with any worries or concerns she had.
