About: University Hospital Lewisham

Went there for throat infection been waiting in a chair from 10:39pm until 9:10am in the triage to be seen for a doctor totally totally awful experience and Nobody cares about you

You can be dying in the chair they don’t care is an emergency services is this normal to be waiting 11 hours for seen by a doctor ? Only in lewisham hospital happens this very very bad

But as always there nobody cares of the people nobody check you up 2 hours for every single patient?? Should be at least 5 doctors at night as normal hospitals and not just 1/2 we pay national insurance for something

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry that your experience was so negative. Unfortunately long waiting times are being experienced in Emergency Departments nationally due to increased numbers of patients attending. We try very hard to avoid this happening but have several large areas within ED and UCC which our staff work between and priority has to be given to the most unwell patients, additionally we were severely impacted this weekend due to staff sickness.

Again, please accept our apologies. If you would like us to investigate your concerns further please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 020 8333 3355 or via email on pals.lewisham@nhs.net

Kind regards

Matron, Emergency Department
