"A Brilliant Ward"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a service user),

Last Monday I felt quite ill at home and had to phone the ambulance. I was so relieved at how quickly they came, the first responder was there first and they calmed me down and stayed until the ambulance came and brought me up to the emergency department. The first responder and all the ambulance staff were amazing!!

Everything was so efficient when I arrived in, I was only in the waiting area of ED for about 15 minutes before I was brought through and admitted. I've been up here on the ward ever since and it is really and truly brilliant. The staff are run off their feet because they are so understaffed but they are amazing, they do their best for everyone.

The only thing I would like to mention is there was an incident recently and it made me want to make a suggestion that there should be more security within the hospital. I understand everyone deserves to be treated and I am not against that, but I believe many of the staff and patients would feel a lot safer if there was more security in the hospital and on the wards for specific patients.

Dear earthkm68

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We greatly appreciate hearing feedback......particularly if it is complimentary!

It is heartwarming to hear that your experience with the staff involved warranted an adjective such as 'amazing'

I am delighted the clinicians were able to reassure and calm you during what must have been an extremely frightening experience.

I would very much like to share your lovely compliments with the staff involved however would require a few extra details to identify and locate them. If you would be prepared to discuss, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope you are recovering well and feeling much better.

Kind regards

Amanda
