"Midwife team"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Labour suite maternity Royal Alexandra Hospital / Community Maternity Unit

(as the patient),

I spoke with Gillian today from the midwife team. I have contracted Covid and I am 36 weeks pregnant. My anxiety is really impacting on me and I am deeply concerned about the well-being of my baby.

I explained to Gillian that I felt unhappy at a previous conversation as I felt my concerns weren’t addressed. After speaking with Gillian I feel so much more relaxed, informed, listened to and know exactly what to do should I feel extremely unwell whether pregnancy or Covid related. Gillian ensured I had emergency contact numbers and re assured me that I would still be seen and attended to should it be required despite having Covid.

I was told the day before to avoid maternity and to stay home a day protect the community. Which I completely agree with and am aware of, however I was left worrying what to do if I went into labour early as my baby is breech. Thank you to all the staff who have spoken with me today. Nothing is ever too much trouble, you are all absolutely lovely and definitely in the right job.

I previously had an operation in September 2020 to remove my Fallopian tube and ectopic pregnancy and even then the staff were just as wonderful. Absolute angels all of you.

Dear Wee Maddy 119

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience and I was glad to hear that after your initial conversation we were able to provide you with the information you needed to address the concerns you had.

It is lovely to hear that staff were able to reassure you and I will feed this back to them and they will be delighted to receive this.

I was sorry to read about your ectopic pregnancy and wish to thank you again for such lovely feedback especially as this would have been a very emotional time for you.

Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy and birth.

Best wishes

Evelyn Frame

Chief Midwife, NHS GGC
