I have recently had an eye problem which needed hospital attention. It had continued to cause me pain and concern, so I attended hospital again. I was feeling really quite anxious as I have other health issues at the moment and I was attending a different hospital from last time. From the moment I was called by the opthalmologist (I believe his name is Peter ), I was put instantly at my ease. He introduced himself and explained exactly what was happening. He made some gentle, good-natured jokes about the noisy building work that was going on and the fact that their computers were down, which made me laugh and feel more relaxed. He carefully explained what he was doing, so it felt much less concerning to have instruments in and around my eyes. He then told me how long I would be waiting and who I would see next. I have honestly never felt so at ease and as comfortable being treated in hospital. The empathy and human connection made what I had expected to be a bit of a stressful and unpleasant experience into a totally stress-free one. I think it's important that this is recognised.
"Great service and care"
