I arrived at Accident and Emergency on Thursday morning as I had severe pain in my foot and could hardly walk. The Triage nurse took my obs and without even seeing my foot made the decision that I should go to my GP due to them being so busy. I was told to wait whilst they contacted the GP. After a 45 minute wait and having watched various other patients coming in after me and then being called by doctors, I went back to Triage nurse and asked what was happening. They told me I wouldn’t be seen and a doctor would call me.
I left and called my GP and they contacted Mount Vernon minor injuries and arranged an X-ray for the following day. The results showed I have ligament damage and am being referred for treatment for this.
I don’t understand how your nurse can assess my injury through a desk without even seeing my foot and make the decision I didn’t need treatment on something they hadn’t even seen!!
