The care provided by the surgeons before, during and after surgery was wonderful. The nursing staff were mixed. Some were excellent whilst others lacked basic training - for example one person applied totally the wrong dressing, another had no idea of basic asceptic techniques and weekend stoma care staff were untrained.
The Friday discharge process was a disaster..... missing items from the prescription, no training on administration of injections (twice daily), discharge letters to GP did not arrive until late Monday. None of the promised community nurse or stoma nurses had been booked for the weekend leaving a feeling of being totally abandoned at a time when support is most critical
"Surgeons were great and very caring ..... but"
