"Not included in at risk group due to Adrenal Insufficiency"

About: Kintbury & Woolton Hill Surgery

(as the patient),

I have no adrenal function and so expected to be included on the at risk groups for COVID vaccination. Despite providing my GP with the Addison Disease Expert Endocrinologist opinion supporting this, my GP decided that I wasn’t entitled to an early vaccination. Apparently because my condition was caused by having had Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (that I survived) he didn’t feel that it was necessary for me to be included in the early group as I no longer had cancer! I am still at risk of adrenal crisis but unfortunately it seems that my GP felt he knew better. Luckily I managed to avoid COVID and was eventually  vaccinated as a regular over 50 year old patient. GPs should not be able to play God and should have clearer guidance for rare diseases
