Arrived to the hospital in the evening with hernia pain. Was checked in quite quickly with my observations and bloods! Then giving codeine. This gave me a funny turn with being on my own, I panicked and had to shout for help and my blood pressure dropped low. I was moved out of the waiting room on a bed to another room. I then had a dr come round to tell me the plan. A few hours later, I was moved to 1B. That next morning I felt a burden to the staff and I was given pain relief. Never saw anyone very often. I was sick and made a mess in my bed - they knew and it took them over half a hour to come back to me to help me get cleaned up. Then left all day with no answers and no pain relief. I was promised stockings in the morning but didn’t receive them until later that evening. Also didn’t receive anymore pain relief till that evening! They then checked my blood sugars, which they hadn’t for the whole time I was on that ward. I should check them 4 times a day, with being nil by mouth you would think it was vital, and I'm 17 weeks pregnant. When I questioned them about this I got told it was my fault as I didn’t tell them. Yet A&E had been doing it so I think it would of been clear on my records. The next day the women in the bed opposite had asked numerous times for a shower with having a operation the day before and she wasn’t very mobile! It got to the afternoon and I ended up helping her, considering I was in pain as no one was coming to help her shower. We literally saw a nurse once every 3 hours as they was so short staffed. When it came to be discharged I asked if my partner could come up and get me. They said no, that they would take me down. But, when the time came they left me to carry my heavy bags down on my own.
