"Parents chaperoning patients with a disability"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 North Surgical

(as a parent/guardian),

Better facilities for parents chaperoning patients with a disability

My daughter has a learning disability and I chaperoned her in hospital. The waiting time in A&E was long and the trolley beds are uncomfortable. The staff in 4 north are brilliant. The only improvement I would suggest is better sleeping facilities for parents chaperoning patients. The staff did try to get a comfortable chair for me to sleep but it was not available. A reclining chair or airbed would be suitable.

Dear cygnusmk36 - thank you for providing this feedback and for your kind comments about the staff in 4 North. We are sorry that you had a long wait in the Emergency Department and appreciate that the trolley beds can be uncomfortable. We will take on board your suggestion in relation to sleeping facilities for relatives and see how this could be improved.

I hope your daughter is recovering well

Best wishes

Dear cygnusmk36 - further to the responses above we can now confirm that there is 1 recliner chair available for use of relatives in ward 4 north and ward 4 south. We apologize again that you did not have a comfortable chair while your daughter was an inpatient and we thank you for raising this issue with us

With best wishes
