Hello I have been a diabetic for over 30 years. For the past number of years I have attended my local podiatry clinic to have my toe nails cut and my feet checked. The blood flow to my feet is not good and I have neuropathy.
In May my husband noticed what appeared to be a blood blister on the side of the middle toe on my right foot. Within a week this had got worse and I rang the podiatry I got an appointment quickly. The wound was dressed and I get another appointment for the following week.
Since then I have been attending podiatry every week as the wound has ulcerated. I am now into my 4th month . On Xray organised by Podiatry showed that an infection was in the bone and I had a 3 week course of antibiotics. This is called, osteomyelitis it is painful and could lead to having the toe amputated.
Podiatry arranged for me to see a vascular doctor, and he was not over worried and will be arranging a scan to monitor the flow of blood. Podiatry have been very good at the attention I have received.
The attention I have received from the podiatrists at Knockbreda has been great considering the pandemic. They have worked and attended to me as normal.
"Podiatry has been very good"
