"Crisis phone line not fit for purpose "

About: Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust

I have been told by mental health nurses in A&E to ring the crisis team support line when I'm struggling and feeling suicidal.

The line isn't fit for purpose when it takes up to seven hours for a nurse to call you back, it's quicker to phone 111 where you only wait half an hour for support.

I'm sure they deliberately ring you back after midnight hoping you will be asleep so they don't have to bother speaking to you.

I'm not really sure what the point of this phone line is?

Hi, Thank you for letting us know about your experience of one of our crisis teams. We are sorry you waited so long for someone to return your call and would like to take the opportunity to look into this.

Could you get in touch to give more information by email; POY@cntw.nhs.uk or by ringing Paul on 07747 793572, this will allow us to find out which team you spoke to and make sure they are aware of your experience and hopefully put measures in place to make sure people don't have the same experience in the future.

Many thanks
