Last week, I attended the Endoscopy Unit for a flexible sigmoidoscopy.
I can't thank the staff enough for looking after me and putting my very anxious mind at ease!
The first two nurses I encountered to check my details and check me in were lovely. One of them was Val and unfortunately I cannot remember being told the others nurses name. They tried their best to get my BP to no avail! (I should mention I can be an awkward a patient)
Even though it is a quick procedure; I asked if gas and air was available as I was worried I wouldn't be able to tolerate it. They made me feel as though nothing would be a a problem and set it up for me (I didn't use it but it made me feel better knowing it was available!)
The nurse Endoscopist Laura then came to explain the procedure and her caring manner really put me at ease further. Everything was fully explained to me and there was no surprises. The two nurses in the actual procedure room were Susan and unfortunately another whose name I didn't catch. Susan held my hand (rather I squeezed hers!) and they all kept my mind off the task at hand by chatting away. Such friendly people, it was fab.
I really appreciated the care and compassion I received by them all, they are a credit to the G.I department.
"They are a credit to the G.I department."
