"Staff doing best but extremely worrying wait times"

Waited 8hrs at a and e to get antibiotics for condition that had previously led to sepsis within hours and for which had been told would need urgent admission if happened again. People waiting on floor in car park outside for hours . When finally seen and treated was in corridor all night as no beds. People will be dying while waiting if this continues. Oh and why no security on door !!

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us, and I am so sorry that you have not been responded to sooner.

I am sorry that your experience in our Emergency Department was not as we would hope. I recognise what a worrying time it is for our patients attending the department, and the importance of basic comfort.

Whilst I know it cannot change your experience, I would like to reassure you that there are several workstreams ongoing to improve the waiting experience for our patients.

If you would like to discuss any of this further, please feel free to contact me at uhsussex.patient.experience@nhs.net.

With kind regards

Hannah Pacifico

Patient and Experience Manager
