"Childbirth"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Midwifery

(as the patient),

I attended Inverurie Maternity Hospital for the birth of my baby boy and I can't vouch for the staff enough! I was quite nervous about the whole ordeal and I wasn't entirely sure what was normal during the process. I had done my research or course but it hadn't quite prepared me. Perhaps it's something you have to experience firsthand to truly understand. The support and reassurance from the staff on duty enabled me to have a positive first experience and a relatively stress-free one. There was a moment when protocol didn't allow me pain relief and rather than do nothing, they offered me a tense machine and encouraged me to stay active to reduce the pain. It was very person-centred. I didn't feel like a 'numbered patient' but one that actually mattered to someone. They read through my birth plan and conducted themselves in a manner that respected my wishes. They were also very well educated in their profession which was very reassuring and aided my experience in a positive way.
