A big thanks to the exceptional diagnostic abilities at KGS without which I might not be here, also to the efficient and caring nursing staff who looked after me.
Having attended A&E for extreme chest pain and breathing difficulties I was seen quickly and an initial diagnosis of pneumonia made. X-Rays confirmed this and I was immediately put on a drip, however the doctor wished to take it further and I was then seen by a consultant who identified a pulmonary embolism. I was immediately sent for a CT scan which confirmed the diagnosis and I was admitted with immediate blood thinners and antibiotics.
Without the exceptional diagnostic ability of the doctor and consultants the outcome could have been very different.
I was looked after very well on the MAU and am now home and recovering. So, a big thanks to ALL.
