"Getting an urgent prescription"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a service user),

My CMHT sent an urgent prescription via fax to my GP practice. I phoned the practice early the following afternoon to see if they had issued the prescription.

Firstly I was told they hadn't received the fax. Then later told me that they were under no obligation to issue an emergency prescription within 48 hrs of being notified. Then it was said that there was no GP on-site to sign the prescription. Which excuse is it?

Every time I communicate with the practice I feel that they resort to arguing instead of just trying to deal with the situation in hand.

Dear The Unhappy

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on care opinion. I was very sorry to hear of the issues you have had with your GP practice in trying to obtain an urgent prescription following a consultation with your CMHT.

Please be advised that GP’s are independent contractors and are responsible for investigating and responding to any concerns a person may have about their service; they are not registered to respond directly to feedback through Care Opinion. I would therefore invite you to contact the Practice Manager if you would like a direct response about the service you experienced.

I hope you have now managed to obtain your prescription.

Kind regards.

Lesley
