"Busy but no one to blame"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Only came here yesterday but since then all has been good. A&E was a terrible experience and it wasn’t the nurses and doctors fault at all it was just the fact that it was so busy. I waited 8 hours and I know other people had to wait longer but it wasn’t a comfortable 8 hours. The nurses here on AMU are very good, every single one of them. The doctors are good too. The ward is always clean enough. The food isn’t great, in all fairness I never liked hospital food but, the tea in the evening too just isn’t great quality either. I don’t know what they do to it. A good thing is I can ask the nurses or doctors questions at any time and they’re always willing and up for answering them to the best of their ability. I feel comfortable asking them questions which is good to know. It is good communication between myself and the staff here I feel and nothing I don’t understand when they’re giving me updates about my care.

Good Morning,

Thank you for sharing your story via care opinion.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the staff in our Emergency Department. Although it is an extremely busy department our nursing and medical teams try there very best to do as much as they can. Thank you for your understanding on this.

I wish you well on your recovery in AMU.

Kind Regards

Lisa

Thank you for posting regarding your recent hospital experience.

I am really sorry to see you didn't enjoy the meal options provided during your stay. Our menus are designed with our Dietetic Colleagues and our recipes comply with the nutritional guidelines.

Tea can be a difficult beverage to get right and I will ask the Locality Manager to review the process followed.

Many thanks

Andrew
