About: Plowright Medical Centre

I requested a blood count due to tiredness and lack of sleep - was assessed and it was agreed that I had a FBC and having borderline lupus, I requested the usual ANA test. Had the test and tel for my results - listed as filed and satisfactory but no ANA was carried out because 'it wasn't requested'. Asked for a print out of my tests and could not believe that a high cholestral and B12 Deficiency would come under 'satisfactory'. Did NICE lower their standards ? I care about my health. Requested another test for ANA but the on call Dr had to authorise this and the poor receptionist emailed her and by the end of the day, the email still had not been read. So a test was booked in the hope that a Dr would authorise it. This morning, I receive a tel call to be informed that a) there is a shortage of test vials and my test was not an emergency and b) the Dr who was emailed is not in until Thursday. My test was therfore cancelled.

I have NO issue with the nurses and receptionists and Dispensary staff. They are the centre's frontline and they work hard - but where are the Dr's - my Dr left recently - and I KNOW for a fact that if he had seen my results, he would have been on the phone.

If a request is made for authorisation from a Dr, this should go to a shared email box rather than be unread and due to the fact that it appears that Dr's are few and far between, the email will be sitting there until the Dr returns to work nearly a week later.

Plowright is kept afloat by receptionists and nurses - who 'get it in the neck' every day from irrate patients and this is not how a surgery should be run. At some point, the Covid wall of excuses given by the Dr's and FOR the Dr's has to stop and a balance established where common sense kicks in.
