I paid out of my own pocket to get a coil replaced in Dublin because I had been waiting for over 4 months on the NHS, even just to get my coil removed! ! (Waiting list is even longer than 4 months, possibly 6 months? 4 months is how long I waited before deciding to pay for it).  

When I originally got it in I was told I could get it removed at any time for any reason. That was clearly a big lie! I even considered pulling it out by myself and googled how to do it. Northern Ireland NHS waiting lists are a complete joke! ! This has caused me physical, emotional and financial stress.

Hi @Doggo thank you for taking the time to send your feedback.

I am extremely sorry to hear you feel waiting lists within Northern Ireland have caused you stress.

As you will know the ongoing global pandemic has contributed significantly to our longer waiting lists. However, I can understand how frustrating this could be to clients and patients.

Please be assured staff within the Contraception Service are working extremely hard to help tackle our waiting list and provide an effective service.

Please also be assured it is appropriate to advise patients when having any contraceptive device fitted, it can be removed at their request. As our waiting list is running longer at the moment, due to the pandemic, we now advise patients prior to insertion of devices to consider a longer waiting list if removal was requested.
