"Outstanding care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

Our Mum was transferred to Langlands Ward 52 from Gartnavel Cuthbertson ward as she required additional medical care for her Dementia. Unfortunately despite treatment, her illness continued to decline during her 8 week stay, until she passed away.

Throughout her stay, the care and efforts from all nursing staff and healthcare assistants who attended to our Mum was outstanding. Working with 30 patients all with different needs is a hard task but the staff were always approachable, friendly and very helpful. It was obvious that this is not just a job for these professionals and they truly care for the individual patients they look after. During the last week of our Mums life, the staff also looked after us and brought us tea/coffee, toast and biscuits while we stayed with her 24/7. Their compassion, sensitivity, thoughtfulness and friendship was endless.

Without taking anything away from all the amazing staff, the additional support received from 4 staff members in particular helped us get through this devastating time. Charge Nurse Craig and Health care Assistants Pauline, Alison and Donna , we’ll never be able to express how much your support and care to Mum and all the family meant to us, we’ll be forever grateful.
Ward 52, you do an amazing job and should be very proud of yourselves, thank you for everything from the bottom of our hearts!

Dear hotelyy83

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your Mum. We really do appreciate you taking the time to thank the staff, especially, Craig, Pauline, Alison and Donna. It is heartening to read about the care shown to your Mum, but also to you and your family. You have mentioned their compassion, sensitivity, thoughtfulness and friendship and I hope this made this extremely difficult time a bit easier for all of you.

Take Care

Nicole
