My dad was in the burns unit at Stoke Mandeville, due to a horrific reaction to chemo. He had to have 55% of his skin removed. He was on a ventilator in ICU for a week - they were amazing.
He was desperate to get back to the burns ward, as Debbie and her team made him feel safe and loved. I can’t thank them enough for the care they gave him. He was then allowed to go to the hospice but chose to stay in the burns unit as he was “happy” there.
There were so good with our family and my dad. They made his last few days a lot more bearable. We can’t thank them enough for their dedication and empathy.
