"My Daughter"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Day Care Unit (Ward 1c)

(as a parent/guardian),

My Daughter comes to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow every 2 weeks for treatment in Ward 1C. She has juvenile arthritis so receives an infusion for just over 2 hours. The nurses on the ward make us feel so welcome and honestly, they couldn't be nicer! They always welcome us with a smile. They speak to my Daughter in such a friendly way and make her enjoy coming to the hospital. There's plenty for her to do on the ward too, with toys and games for her to engage with while she receives her medicine. She loves these (especially the toy farm animals!). At the start, she disliked coming to the hospital because she found the cannula scary. The nurses would speak to her every time and take her mind off of it. She now loves coming to the hospital and seeing the friendly faces of the nurses!

Dear thubanrs58,

Thank you for taking the time out to post you and daughters experience whilst attending the hospital.

Although we appreciate how challenging it must be for you and your daughter to attend hospital every two weeks for her to recieve her treatment, it was very nice to hear that the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

It was lovely to hear, although it was very difficult for your daughter in the beginning, regarding getting a cannula inserted, as she found it scary! To hear that everyone was able to put her at ease and now she feels happy attending for her medication, is a rewarding story to hear, and great for the feedback, of the ward being a place where she has lots of interaction with the staff and has found lots of toys to occupy her and she can play with.

I will pass on your post to the staff as I am sure they will be delighted to hear they have made such a difference to you and your daughter's visit to their unit.

Kind Regards

Mandy
