"A & E absolutely terrible "

About: Rotherham Hospital

Sent to A & E with a letter sent to them by my GP about severe abdominal pain, without going into details about my personal condition which puts me at a very high risk of bowel blockage. GP had put me down as urgent concern. The dept was already full & I asked reception what the wait time was to which she replied 4 hours but mentioned I was down as major. I explained due to area & amount of pain which was evident I would struggle to sit on the hard chairs for any length of time but the receptionist suggested wait till I'd seen triage nurse. I sat for 1& a half hours to see triage who was lovely & concerned & ordered urine & blood tests. When I came out of her room there were no seats to sit & many patients already standing. No one available to express my concerns to. After standing for about 30 mins, writhing in pain I was going to check at reception how long I'd likely be but there were about 10 people queueing so I asked the staff who wait just inside the door. I explained my circumstances & reiterated this when she suggested I asked at reception. She shrugged her shoulders so I explained I would have no choice but to leave as I was in far too much pain to be expected to wait stood up for who knows how long. She again asked me to queue to let them know. I gave her my name & was so upset told her to let them know. I am home now still no answers, still in severe pain & at a loss of where to go or what to do. I cannot believe medical staff allow this to happen. I understand waiting times but no consideration for individual needs, no empathy & NO seats! No staff to check on people who are waiting hours with who knows what is happening to them. If someone goes to A & E knowing how long they are likely to have to wait they are clearly in a desparate situation. Someone will lose their life (if they haven't already)!
