Mum recently caught covid, a nightmare for us as she has an autoimmune disease and had been shielding. Thank goodness she also had received both her vaccinations. Being on the respiratory ward was isolating for mum as she couldn’t have any visitors and was quite unwell. This was really distressing for both us and mum.
Virtual visiting was a real lifeline as it provided a daily link to see mum and let us see how she was doing providing reassurance and contact for her when she was surrounded by strange faces in PPE.
Lisa and her team were amazing, helpful arranging daily iPad visits, providing a friendly face and making everyone smile.at every visit. I just can’t thank them enough.Nothing was too much trouble.
Thankfully mum fought back and was discharged but even after this the team called to see how she was, they really care about the people they visit.
I hope this service is available for a long time, elderly patients can’t always use technology to communicate. It’s a vital part of patient care.
Thank you Lisa and the Virtual visiting team you were amazing.
