"Getting work"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / IPS Future's Positive

(as a service user),

I have been out of work for about a year or so, then I was told about an employment advisor at manor road.  I was not sure as even though I wanted to work, I lost a lot of confidence and was let go at last job due to my illness and time off.  When I met Debby initially at manor road she was super friendly, and at first thought this was not real, but after about 2 sessions I realised she is genuine and down to earth, and really is dedicated to trying to help you.

She helped me to believe I could succeed, but deep down I am not sure I believed it ..at the time I was up and down, but on the down days she would be present and put no pressure on me, just listen when I was stressing.  Debby did not try to fix it which is what I needed, and when I started to feel better she did not rush me, even though I think she gets marked on getting people work she put me first.

My partner and kids liked her too.  She has an amazing sense of humor, I wish I had met her years ago I am sure it would have helped me, I wanted to write to tell others if they think they can't give Debby a call and I can guarantee she will help and she never judges which I love.

Debby got me not one but 3 jobs to work round my kids, and it is working great, I will miss our chats but I am sure others needs this kind of help and I am sorted.  Debby will do anything to help you she went to the employer and even got questions of the interview and wrote answers for me.  She helped me see my job (not just the paid ones) but my role as a mum comes with a skill set.  She is fab and NHS are lucky to have her.

Hello Supermum

You certainly sound like a Supermum managing 3 jobs as well!

I'm so pleased you have found Debbie helpful and that you have found employment that suits you. I hope your post inspires others to ask to see an Employment Specialist. We now have an Employment Specialist in every Local Mental Health Team.

I wish you all the best in each of your roles, and in your continued recovery, Tracey
