I was on the phone to one of the GP receptionists asking to speak to a doctor about changing my prescription which I was due to pick up that day as I was an emergency triage call. I phoned as I had a new symptom which made me think it was the wrong diagnosis therefore the wrong medication. I asked if I would be able to speak to a doctor about it.
The receptionist was lovely at first and did say they were fully booked but they would go speak to a clinician. They asked me what my new symptom was. To me the symptom was embarrassing and I did not want to disclose this to them and asked if it would be ok to speak to a doctor about it.
The receptionist on the phones attitude changed completely and said well you will just need to phone tomorrow as we are fully booked and that was the phone call ended.
I was honestly shocked at how their attitude changed because I wouldn't disclose a private symptom with them, I came off the phone crying as I genuinely needed medication regardless. I feel like they could of approached the situation differently and in a nicer manner.
