"We have not heard anything since the scan"

About: Salford Royal

(as a relative),

I took my aunt who is in her 90's to Salford Royal Hospital in late April 2021 for a Spinal Scan and we have not heard anything since.   My aunt is struggling daily with chronic spinal pain and, despite enquiries made by my aunt and the GPs secretary, nobody can advise what is happening and whether the results of the scan have been discussed.   We have contacted various staff with no response. On telephoning the Spinal Assessment Unit my aunt was told in no uncertain terms that only the GP can obtain the results by contacting the dedicated GP Results Line.   Nobody appears to have any answers or be really bothering to help; and my aunt is struggling daily.   I don't think this service is good enough despite the good things we have heard about this hospital.

Thank you for your comments as we value all feedback from our service users as it helps us to improve our service.

We are sorry to hear of the experience your aunt has had in trying to locate the results of her scan. To allow us to investigate this further and find out which area we need to feedback too, can we please ask that you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), on 0161 206 2003 or email them directly on pals@srft.nhs.uk between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, with further details of when you called and the teams you spoke to. Please quote that you have been advised to do so via the NHS Website, and they will do their best to address your concerns.

Kind regards

The Patient Experience Team.
