"Friendly professionalism"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was quite anxious as I walked to the clinic for a small procedure after a very bad experience with a local GP. On immediate arrival to the clinic I was welcomed kindly and attended to while I waited for the consultant. The consultant approached me with friendly professionalism and introduced me to the attending nurse. The consultant was very kind, understood and fulfilled my need for explanation and self involvement during the procedure, and brought empathy and support. I felt he cared very much about his standards and also his patient which is rare today, in my opinion.   The nurse was very supportive, talking and reassuring throughout the procedure. She was extremely prepared, all sterilised and ready for the procedure which allowed her to focus on the patient instead of her environment. Again, I felt she cared. Since the consultant explained all he was doing,   I felt no pain as I was able to work with him. Dignity, privacy and safety with effective communication added to the high quality standards of both medical and nursing care. Very refreshing! Thank you!

Dear Nola,

Thank you for your reply. I must assure you my past negative experiences have been in other hospitals within different local authorities so these are not associated to the Queen Margaret Hospital. Its very important to give positive feedback where its due because we often focus too much on the poor points which dishearten us and results in mistrust. Your target to aim for patient centred care was met to the highest of standards. So on that note, an excellent experience in Clinic 4, Outpatients. Thank you.

Please stay safe and be well.
