In July 2021, I had to send for my GP as was feeling really unwell.
My GP is great, but she felt that I needed more investigation than she could provide. I agreed to go hospital and an ambulance was called. The ambulance crew were wonderful and when the paramedic did an ECG, she found I had an irregular heartbeat.
I was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and was in A & E for a few hours on chaa potassium drip. The staff at A & E were great. I was then transferred home, my son came for me. The consultant arranged for the Midlothian Hospital at Home Care Team to take over my care. I had to take potassium tablets for four days and then my potassium levels went back to normal. The nurses and consultant of the Care Team are wonderful and came every day for a few days and then every second day until I was discharged. However, the team was not happy about my breathing and they could hear crackling in my lungs, although they were sure I did not have a chest infection. The arranged a CT scan at the Royal for Wednesday 4th August. The result of the scan showed that I have moderate emphysema. I have an inhaler for my asthma and my GP assures me that it can be used for the emphysema. I have had the best care from all the NHS professionals, and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart
"Wonderful home care team"
