After calling NHS24 and being sent an ambulance for my daughter who was unwell with various different factors, A fantastic ambulance crew arrived. Fiona and Mags were so reassuring, and so kind to my 4 year old daughter. They made the ride into hospital for her completely fearless, keeping her busy and chatting along the way. Both girls have the most excellent interpersonal skills and I am grateful for the care and compassion they gave to my little girl. Both were also extremely professional throughout too and are a complete and utter credit to themselves, their profession, the NHS and ambulance service.
Once we arrived at the hospital, the staff there were also excellent. Louise the triage nurse at the QEUH Glasgow children's A&E was amazing. She totally put my daughter at ease, spoke to her in such an amazing manner, and even gave her ice lollies to ensure her fluids were being maintained. When taking her observations she made the whole situation stress and anxiety free for her, and generally just made her feel special which is amazing when working with kids!
Once she had been triaged, a student nurse from GCU took us through to the assessment area, her name was Leeanne. As a health professional who works closely with students, I found that this wonderful student nurse deserves excellent recognition. She also is a credit to her profession, and although I can't comment on her clinical skills, I feel it has to be said that her care and compassion was second to none. Leeanne made sure both my daughter and myself were seen to, kept us informed, made my daughter comfortable and generally just communicated with such an excellent manner. I'm not sure if Leeanne is training to be a paediatric nurse or not, but she definitely has a flare in this area and appears to be very competent.
Lastly, the Doctor, Josh, was another of the kids a&e angels. He was extremely thorough, took into careful considerations my own clinical concerns as a mother and a practitioner, and again had such a fantastic manner with my daughter.
I feel all too often we can be quick to criticise and slow to praise, therefore I would be grateful if this feedback can be passed on to the absolute ANGELS who helped us last night. We had as positive an experience as we could have hoped for, were very well looked after and reassured and informed throughout. I understand there were children much more poorly than mine in this department at this time, but felt the need to contact and say that had my daughter been more unwell or deteriorated that I would have had the utmost confidence in the kids a&e team and the paramedic team who were both just outstanding, Well done everyone for all you do and thankyou once again.
"Excellent interpersonal skills"
