I think the nhs is an amazing service i am thankful for it although I have some concerns as to one of my
Family members experience with it as a cancer sufferer going through treatment with all the complications thats came with that. Theres so many things that flag in my mind but the experience today causes me concern
She just had chemotherapy last week and was due to go today for bloods ect but was so poorly didnt want to go was told to go to a&e with him incase of dehydration.
Got to a&e and waited for several hours yes this is expected but only thing that was done for her was her bloods taken half way through this but to be in a corridor so unwell for over 8 hours should not be happening. Basically a&e can't do anything for her and we know this, but this is the process for her to get fluid into her.
There is no communication from department to department she has a hicc line and has the worst veins yet most staff are untrained to use it and force cannulas in basicly every visit.
As someone going through chemotherapy they should not have to suffer anymore than they are already. There should be a smoother process eg. Called from home when a bed is ready for them rather than lying there feeling terrible with no food offered to them from 11 during then day untill 9'at night barley approached by anyone
