I attended the day clinic this afternoon. It was a planned appointment but I was still unsure of what to expect having never had a surgical procedure before.
The staff were all lovely. They were extremely reassuring and clearly explained everything. I had many questions regarding the procedure and they all made efforts to answer my questions to the best of their ability. When I was awakening from my general anaesthesia there were nurses with me to help me sit up and I was also offered water. They made sure I was comfortable and were very respectful. I feel like I was very well looked after and can only describe today's procedure as perfect for a first time surgery.
My husband took me to the clinic and he seemed to get parked easy enough. It is difficult to comment on the signposting of the day clinic as I just asked someone to direct and then I found my way easily. I can see however how it might have been difficult to locate the clinic had the person I asked not known its location.
I was referred for this procedure about 6 months ago and have been waiting for an appointment to have this surgery since then. I have to say the wait has been quite long. This is just a criticism of the health system however.
Overall everything was extremely positive especially the staff who really put me at ease and made me feel relaxed in their care. I have no improvements to suggest.
