About: The Lawson Practice

I had given birth in 2020 and have only been called about 2 times to ask if I'm doing OK, as some one who is struggling with mental health and just given birth I would of thought them to check up on me and the baby more.

When u called them with problems that the baby was having I was told my normal doctor was not in and I should call next week that's very bad for a new born to suffer because a doctor is away its not like there is no more doctors are at the gp.

Lastly the receptionist asking what the problem is when you try and make an appointment is ridiculous as sometimes it's a private problem and I have told them it's private and they still want to know this is against my rights.

Hello, I'm so sorry you're having problems getting an appointment. It is hard for me to comment on the lack of contact regarding your mental health as I don't know your circumstances. If you felt able to come and talk about it in person we could look in to what has happened. Normally the GP practice would see you and your baby at six weeks. If there were mental health concerns these should be highlighted so that support can be organised. We wouldn't routinely call up and check on people unless there were specific reasons so it would be good to know if we have missed something here so that we can look in to it and make things better for the future. Regarding you being told to call back when your own doctor is present, we ask this because we know that patients get better care with a doctor who knows them. We always have a duty doctor available for emergencies. Finally the receptionists ask what your problem is so that they can get you the help you need as fast as possible. Sometimes patients need things that can be done for them by other members of the practice team and it is quicker than waiting for a doctor. Again, I'm sorry you feel we haven't been as helpful as you would like. I would be very happy to meet with you to see how we could have done things better.
