"The magnificent NHS"

About: Derriford Hospital / Neurology Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Stroke Services South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My wife had a stroke last Tuesday Morning, I phoned 999 immediately, the call handler was excellent as were the paramedics who took her to Treliske Hospital, Truro, Cornwall for a scan.

The Doctor phoned me to advise that they were transferring her to Derriford Hospital. She was operated on in the afternoon, after surgery the surgeon phoned me about the procedure he had carried out.

Then transferred back to Treliske on the Friday and amazingly I picked her up yesterday and she's making fabulous progress, still, a way to go but we'll get there.

The service received has been unbelievable, such genuine care and support throughout. The UK is so fortunate to have the magnificent NHS. I hope our thanks will be passed on to all those involved. The ward at Treliske was Phoenix, at Derriford it was Merrivale.

Dear Cheerylover,

My name is Jane and I am the Clinical Matron for the Emergency Department.

Your wife would have attended our department for her scan and initial care and treatment before going to Derriford Hospital. I am so pleased to hear that we were able to treat her quickly and optimise her recovery. It is really satisfying to know that the stroke pathway from start to finish was executed as it should be and that the Trust values of care and compassion were evident throughout her admission.

Thankyou for taking the time to feed these positive comments back to us and I am glad your wife has made a good recovery.

Kind Regards

Jane
