Ward 8A QEUH, Glasgow. Very difficult to speak to a doctor who actually knew my relative’s case. Doctors on ward and in charge of my relative changed often therefore their knowledge of him was very fragmented. We were actually given conflicting information by two different doctors regrading requirement for a CT scan. Relative moved to Gartnavel General for rehabilitation and we were assured no concerns medically, no CT scan required, just move to Gartnavel General for rehabilitation. One week after arrival at Gartnavel General, new Consultant allocated and has decided more medical tests required for the exact same condition that relative presented with 3 weeks earlier and was admitted for at QEUH yet doctor/s at QEUH had discharged my relative to Gartnavel and said there were no medical issues, only requiring rehabilitation.
Poor communications from doctors to family about my elderly relative’s condition, very fragmented staffing and frequent changes of doctor and now also a new Consultant therefore very difficult to follow what is actually happening. Three and a half weeks spent in these two hospitals in total so far and we are no further forward in knowing what the issue is with my relative.
