I came into the hospital last Saturday via the accident and emergency department . I had a fit of vomiting at home so when I arrived to the hospital I was seen to very quickly. This was unexpected as I have heard many stories about the notorious waiting times in the A&e department but I have to say I was seen to swiftly and triaged. I was then given a bed on the ward pretty immediately.
The staff were all great and were very helpful. They really tended to my needs. When I mention staff I mean the nurses and the doctors. They have been very attentive, listen to my needs and keep me informed regularly about what is going on with my treatment. My operation was unfortunately cancelled and postponed for a day or two but the doctor came to see me and explained why that was. He sympathized with me, was very apologetic and understood that I would be disappointed. He put a plan in place for me so I didn't feel like I had just been forgotten about. This reassurance from my surgeon made me feel a lot better about the situation.
My room is great. I am delighted I have been put in a side room as I really enjoy having my own space. The room is clean and comfortable. The food is good as well. I am a bit of a picky eater myself but there is always something on the menu I can eat.
The only improvement I could suggest is that it would be brilliant if the hospital could provide some more blankets for the beds as it gets a bit colder. I am someone who always feels the cold so would like some extra layers to keep me comfortable.
