I attended the Womens' Unit for a hysteroscopy and was greeted by two lovely nurses, who made me feel totally at ease, although I was extremely anxious. The doctor was running late, but the nurse updated me so that I didn't think I'd been forgotten. The doctor explained what the procedure entailed, and reassured me. Although I found the procedure to be extemely painful, the doctor was very gentle, and the nurse who was assisting her, helped me with my breathing to ease the pain. After the procedure, I was in a lot of pain, and was physically sick. The nurses were wonderful, and my husband was allowed to sit with me until I was well enough to return home. As I have severe osteoarthritis in my hip, and have to walk with 2 crutches, I felt unable to walk the distance back to the car, therefore a lovely porter was called to wheel me in a wheelchair.
Before I left, the doctor came to see how I was and introduced herself to my husband. I thought that was a lovely touch, and totally unexpected, bearing in mind how busy they all are.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped me, and how wonderful they all were working in such difficult conditions.
"Wonderful staff"
