I have been incredibly nervous and anxious about this from the moment the appointment letter arrived 6 weeks ago and naturally this became even more heightened the closer that today came.
I was on-time to the department at the CT & MRI Scanning Suite at the Borders General Hospital and was welcomed and taken through by THE most wonderful nurse by the name of Susan. We started chatting from the first second, mine being based on nerves, and it soon became clear that we had a lot of common interests and so we started down a long path talking about our imminent move abroad and the fact that Susan has been there countless times, I think in excess of 10, and that as well as holidays this has also regularly involved her doing charity work I think for Virgin Unite. I showed her where we were moving to and in fact the house we are buying and she was incredibly envious but at the same time equally pleased for us and 100% wishing us happiness, success and good health.
This lady is not only a wonderful nurse but clearly always puts others first even when she takes her well-earned breaks from her NHS work and in fact carries on doing what she was cleared destined to do. Suffice to say that she made my whole experience painless and worry free and I enjoyed her company, compassion and dedication so much so that I have told her when she is back abroad she will have my number and that I will expect her to come and stay. A credit to the NHS and believe me I do know as my own partner is a Senior Clinical Nurse Manager and has been serving for 33+ years herself and is also currently with NHS Borders. I hope that Susan will have the chance to see the comments I have left?
