Waited 9hrs on a Friday just for a hip X-ray and a few minutes of a doctors time to then be given horrendous news. I arrived by ambulance, the staff onboard cared way more than the A and E staff who were forever on the computer more than with patients. I arrived with screaming pain from what I believe is a trapped nerve relating to a worn down hip, yet whilst the ambulance staff got me gas and air for the pain, nobody else actually assessed me regarding it whatsoever. It took from 12.30 lunchtime until 7pm/7.30pm for an X-ray to even be ordered. I waited in a boiling hot corridors and various other holding areas. As time went on I realised they'd left me with no bell I could ring for help, whilst stuck endlessly on a bed with bars up. I waited 3/4hr just to get a commode for the only toilet stop I got all day. Even after I'd seen the doctor 9pm at night they left me behind a half drawn curtain, no bell, stuck on the bed with bars up, forgotten about. Only when I broke down in tears from the awful day I'd had at the hospital, with the help of other patients also calling for attention, did I finally get noticed. It was a dreadful experience. I've been in hospital in the past many times, even as an inpatient for operations as I have an autoimmune condition. I can tell you for sure, the NHS has certainly gone downhill it's appalling...or at least on this occasion I was severely let down. I praise the ambulance staff though, as they were very attentive to detail and appeared to actually care about my well-being.
"9 hr wait for very little"
