"Brilliant experience on the maternity ward"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

After attending an assessment in the clinic on Tuesday I was booked in for an induction the next day. I thought the transition from clinic to the ward was really smooth and overall I have had a brilliant experience. The staff have been amazing, I would give them 20/10. Even though they are so busy they are really attentive and I felt that I was kept up to date with all the information about my induction. The food was also good. I suppose the only thing that I wasn't as sure about were the rules around visiting but that's more just because of the times we are in at the minute, otherwise everything has been great.

Hi,

Many thanks for your very complimentary feedback which will be shared with all the midwives. I am so glad you had a positive experience during your journey through the maternity unit in Daisy Hill.

With regard to visiting, this has been reviewed and restricted visiting within maternity has been re-introduced. Your nominated birthing partner is permitted to attend the maternity ward for one hour during your postnatal stay, this person must be the same person who accompanied you during her birth. This hour is in addition to the 2 hours immediately after birth.

Apologies about the confusion surrounding visiting, in light of the rise in covid cases this guidance is kept under regular review.
