"Unprofessional"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

I went for my 20 week scan recently. The receptionist i spoke to was eating a sandwich while speaking to me with her mouth open! Once I went through for my scan I called my Fiancè to join me due to covid restrictions he had to wait outside initially. Once the baby was checked the sonographer asked my Fiancè to leave for the last 5 mins. Confused he left and I was then told I have a low lying placenta and possibly may have to have a c section if it does not improve. My partner was there to support me and should be just as involved as me. For what reason did he need to leave because if there is one it wasn't explained. I was asked to make another appointment for 32 weeks with a different receptionist doing paperwork and ignoring me for 10 mins not even to let me know she wouldn't be long finishing what she was doing. All staff members very unprofessional!!

Dear Patient

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to hear about your experience within our maternity scan department. The reception staff have been reminded that there is to be no eating at the reception desk under any circumstances and to be more alert to patients approaching the desk. The Sonographer has been reminded that the support person/partner is to remain in the scan room until the scan has finished and to give the scan results to both.

Terri Hodgkinson

Lead Sonographer
