"The staff have been amazing"

About: Maternity care / 2 West Maternity

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The staff in 2 West Maternity, Craigavon have been amazing, so good and I've been looked after so well. The ward is clean, I get enough privacy and the noise isn't too bad. However, not being able to have a visitor feels wrong, I can't imagine how difficult it would be for someone having their first child. At times like these you need someone there for you to help support you. Furthermore, due to ban on visiting no one is able to call to the shop and bring in necessities or snacks to people on the ward who don't feel up to going to the shop, it would be nice to have someone who could call down and grab a few things for people.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond, we do welcome all feedback to help us improve the service we offer. Thank you for your lovely comments about our staff.

I do understand you concerns regarding visiting, unfortunately due to the rise in community prevalence of covid and increasing covid positive cases in our hospitals, the decision has been made by the Trust to suspend visiting. This decision has been taken to protect patients, their babies and staff given the increasing cases of Covid-19 in our community. Please be assured that this is reviewed daily by our senior management team.

regards

Mary Dawson
