"Aberdeen A & E Ambulatory Clinic"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) General Practices in Grampian

(as the patient),

11 days ago I had used the eConsult service to contact my local surgery about what appeared to be a hardened vein under my left armpit. I received an email back from my own doctor to rub Ibuprofen gel to the affected area for  a week. This made no difference and the vein seemed more prominent.

I called the surgery again and eventually I got a face to face appointment with a doctor, who after examining me organised an immediate scan/examination at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary A & E Ambulatory clinic. On arriving at the clinic I was immediately taken to a consultation room and all within 90 minutes I had been seen by a wonderful team of nurses, doctors and radiologists, had bloods taken, ultrasound scan and chest x ray. I was given the diagnosis and a thorough explanation of the treatment by the consultant. I cannot praise the excellent courtesy and service I received from all the team at the clinic.
