I Overdosed and was referred “urgently” by my GP. To have my case being deemed as “an inability to regulate emotions” and just “being a teenager with a low mood” was appalling. I have suffered for 6 years of my life and to be basically mocked is a disgrace. I still struggle to this day but I will NEVER go back to this service. Not only that but the fact that there was a CAHMS service a 15 minute drive from me and they referred me to one that is over an hour away was even more disgraceful. My CAHMS worker also went on holiday without notifying me or my mum so we drove from Hull to Driffield for nothing with a month old baby. This service made my mental health worse because being told you are faking your mental health issues when really you are masking because you don’t trust a complete stranger, that’s stupid. Being told a cup of tea will help or a bath will help is stupid. I suggest that CAHMS either gets abolished or they get better staff who don’t waste time and tell you that you’re faking your mental health issues.
Appalling.
