Even though I live in Market Harborough, I prefer to travel to the Husbands Bosworth surgery because the waiting area at MH is so unfriendly. I'm autistic and it's a truly horrible place for me to visit. The lighting, the people, the noise, the textures, the layout, the design, the processing system: everything is unpleasant from an autistic point of view. And the buzzer that tells you when to go to your appointment is particularly horrid.
I expect the medical treatment is fine, but when I visited for my COVID vaccination I had to be accompanied to get through it. I wore noise-cancelling headphones and sunglasses, and it was still difficult. It wouldn't take much to make the place more autism-friendly, but I guess that's just not important enough.
