"I don't understand why it took so long to see him"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My grand son attended a&e at hairmyres hospital at 6:30pm recently

He had triage at 7:30 , but he was not seen until just before midnight ,

It was recommended that he was taken to the sick kids at govan,

He is 6 years old , was very distressed with the goings on in the waiting room , he was hungry and tired.

I don't understand why it took so long to see him or the suggestion to go to sick kids not been made at 7:30.

As it was , we returned home at 3:30 am

My daughter in law his mother was with him , I was looking after his brother in my car in car park.

I would have expected to be seen and out by at least two hours , I don't think a 6 hour wait is good enough

I also emailed patient affairs, I am still awaiting an answer

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience when attending the Emergency Department. I'm sorry to hear that it was not a positive experience and I would like the opportunity to investigate the issues you have raised regarding your grandson.
Could I ask that you contact Patient Affairs on 01355 585325 who will be happy to help and take further details.

Kind Regards

Carol
