"Well looked after"

About: Causeway Hospital / Pre-Assessment Unit Causeway Hospital / Surgical 2 Causeway Hospital / Theatres

(as a service user),

Went into Causeway Hospital mid May for Bowel Cancer operation. The next day I was well looked after from going into the hospital until leaving. Met surgeon + anaesthetist before the operation. Reassured me and made me feel at ease. After operation nurses efficient + friendly always coming in and checking up on me. Two trainee nurses Alison + Daniel had a lot of time for you even came in too see me before going off duty, and called in to say Hello if they were going off to another ward the next morning. Second day after Operation was still sore and not able to get out of bed a staff member came and washed me and shaved me. All I can say is ward is very well run. All of my medications and district nurse sorted out before leaving hospital.

Dear waltzjw46

I am Blaithnid Hughes, the General Manager for Surgery in Causeway hospital. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of our Ward and our teams.

I am incredibly proud and privileged to work with the Causeway team; they are patient centred, safety focussed and put their patients care and wellbeing at the centre of all they do.

The team understand that after an operation our patients are sore, vulnerable and fragile and so they take extra care to ensure that dedicated time and compassion is given to try and make a difficult period as pleasant as is possible.

Sr Dyson and her team will be delighted that you have had such a positive experience and I wish you a healthy recovery in the weeks ahead.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience;

Best wishes

Blaithnid Hughes
